ON THE TWENTYFIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS

Two positives today. The first being we have now reached the shortest day of the year and from now on the days will start to get longer. Won’t happen quickly but it’s a start. The other positive is that this Christmas there are no sudden decisions meaning we can’t be together with family on the big day and for that I am most grateful. Last Christmas was a very difficult one for a lot of people so I hope this year people can make up for the disappointments.

Today was cold and miserable. We took the dog for a walk on Glasgow Green. I needed some fresh air and a good walk and was wrapped up well but it was damp and no amount of clothing could keep the cold out. Took me forever to warm up even when back in the warmth of home. Hot tea and mince pie was the order of the day.

However even in the dull grey day I managed to get some nice photos. No blue skies and sunshine but great reflections in the river. Even the pigeons were reflecting in it.

Made some dough up for a cinnamon and orange biscuit. Needs to rest overnight so I’ll get them cut out and into the oven tomorrow. We sat down in the afternoon and watched Its a Wonderful Life. A festive must. Love it more and more every year.
Another day closer to the big day. I am really looking forward to it now. Keeping close to home to keep safe. Although thinking a lunch out tomorrow might be nice. Will hopefully find somewhere quiet to enjoy it.

This is Hector. He joined as a few years ago and at this time of year he is spruces up with a tartan bow tie and a set of lights in his antlers. Think he looks very festive and Christmas wouldn’t be the same without him.
