ON the EIGHTH DAY of Christmas…………

A relaxing morning at the hairdressers. So now all ready to party, if only………….Still have some lunches out will spend time with friends which will be lovely  looking forward it  

On returning had a text saying a parcel was delivered 5 mins before I got home. No parcel, no note posted through the door and a photo of “my” signature. Checked with neighbours, no luck, tried same address but Drive instead of Park, not there either although one delivered there a couple of days ago was retrieved. Find it strange it wasn’t t brought to us as it is very close by! Anyway trying to contact DHL was, and still is proving difficult. So now my relaxing morning had given way to a stressful afternoon. An afternoon that was set aside for card writing was soon spoiled, the mood wasn’t great, at least not for card writing.

I knew there wouldn’t be many festive activities going on here today. I made a small addition by putting out seasonal toiletries in bathrooms and brought out the festive washing up liquid. A small nod to the festive season and something to stop this blog being a moan all the way through 😂




I think it all adds to getting the house ready for Christmas and hopefully people enjoy it too. I enjoy doing it and love how over the weeks before the big day the house moves slowly into the season  I don’t think you can ever overdo the decorations at this time of year. It’s a bit different when it all gets packed away at the end, but for the time it’s there I plan to make the most of it  


     



Even the kitchen sink gets a bit of special treatment 😂. Well couldn’t leave it out of the festive plan. 


Hope tomorrow I find my parcel and the day is better all round. Coffee with a friend in town will ensure it starts out that way.

One thing during this lockdown period is that it has me trying all sorts of things I’d never done before. Some I’d thought of, others I never dreamt of doing. Today for example, with the possibility of mandatory face masks on the horizon I decided to make some using up all my fat squares I had lying around. A friend put the idea into my head so I have Christine to thank for this. I enjoyed putting them together. I will pass them on to family or friends as requested.  Candles was one project I’d always planned to do so what better time than now. I sent off for a starter  kit to begin with.  I was quite happy with the results so then moved on to preparing all the ends of candles I had been saving. Had there been no lockdown I wonder if I’d ever got around to using them up! I chopped it very finely, into flakes, then melted as I had with the purchased wax. Thankfully it was quite successful. Recycling a Step too Far?

I am trying to do what little I can to save the planet. Easier said than done a lot of the time. Perhaps I'm not quite as committed as I could, or indeed I should be, but I really am doing my best and trying hard. Baby steps. Surely anything is better than nothing. My main bugbears are plastics, and wasting food. I recycle what I can and take brown paper bags to the supermarket to put my fruit and veg into, and loose bakery items can be put into them too. However, on so many occasions I am unable to purchase loose products. I have now taken to unwrapping them, once I'm through the checkout of course, and leave the supermarket to deal with the issue. Yes, I do get a few funny looks, but hey who cares I'm saying the planet. LOL. I know this doesn't get rid of the problem but if more people did it them maybe all supermarkets would start to take the issue more seriously. I know some supermarkets are starting down that road and good for them, let's hope more follow sui...

A Life in Lockdown.........

It seems to me, from what I read and from speaking to people, life seems to fall into several groups of what we once referred to as chores but which now seem less onerous during lockdown. These are the household duties. Cooking, cleaning and gardening then there is exercise and lastly hobbies.  Now let me address the exercise first. Pre lockdown we occasionally took a walk around the neighbourhood and now we do it every day, going further and further and it’s an easy way of getting exercise. We’re getting to know people streets away, and people close by, we are meeting with others who we only normally see in local coffee shop. It’s opened our eyes to what a lovely community we are living in. A local FB page for residents is doing a great job. It feels as if everyone is just waiting for someone to pop by so they can pop out for a chat. While walking the other day the smell of lilac was amazing.
